“By the grace of God, I am what I am.” – 1 Cor. 15:10

writer. dreamer. artsy. ambitious. college graduate.

My dream is to say I am from southern California, but unfortunately that’s a dream I can only make possible for my children. I’m a lover of all-things California; the weather, the culture, the scenery, the food, the attitude, the mountains, the freeways, the wine, and of course–the beach. One day, I’ll live there. For now, I’m trying to enjoy the present and looking forward to my future, which will one day be in San Diego.

I have an intense passion for the written word. Writing is how I express myself best and how I identify with others. My love language is even, “words of affirmation.” I have been writing since I was a small girl and absolutely love challenging myself almost daily with new writing projects. Most of what I write is creative nonfiction, memoir type pieces, but I’ve written everything from poetry to fiction to even a 118-page feature film script. I have a burning desire to attend journalism school so I can do what I love for a living (and get paid for it!). Most importantly– I want to absolutely love what I do every day.

I attended the University of Central Florida, majored in Interpersonal/Organizational Communication with a minor in English: Writing and graduated in May 2009. I had hopes to attend Columbia University or the University of California, Berkeley in the fall of 2011 for a graduate degree in journalism, but apparently God has other plans for me that have yet to be revealed. (It’s too bad, I love Columbia with all my heart!)

I am strong willed. I am independent. And I am an honest, tell-it-how-it-is person. I’m bright and I’m sharp–do not think for a second you can take me for a fool. I was raised to have full dependence on myself and no one else.

This life has been a crazy journey thus far, and I’m just getting started. I truly believe that for me, the best has yet to come. I am excited for what the future holds and to see where God takes me.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your blog! I am also applying to Columbia for Journalism and am taking the writing exam tomorrow (ahh). I’m also a Cali girl, San Diego, and its always nice to see another ambitious/driven woman out there. Bets of luck with both schools hopefully we both get into CU!
